Anaphylaxis is an extreme and severe allergic reaction of the whole body when it comes into contact with an allergen this will occur within seconds, minutes or even hours after exposure. The treatment for this needs to be rapid as the casualty will get very unwell very quickly.
This 2 hour course gives the learner the ability to recognise a mild to severe reaction and take the correct action to treat this type of condition. The course is ideal for schools, playgroups, crèche, youth groups or anyone who wishes to know more about this serious medical condition and the corrective action you can take to manage it.
Anaphylaxis happens because of an allergic reaction which we know as anaphylactic shock, this happens because the body’s immune system overreacts to a substance that it thinks is threatening. The main treatment for this condition to the use of adrenaline for which this course teaches.
Some causes of the condition are foods & Non foods such as:
- Peanuts
- Tree Nuts
- Shell Fish
- Fish
- Milk
- Eggs
- Latex
- Wasp / Bee Stings
- Injections
- Prescription Medications
