This is a HSENI  Emergency First Aid at Work which has been adapted to suit a particular audience and is an ideal course for lower risk businesses in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982.
The course is run over one day or 7 hours covering a range of Medical related emergencies. This course is for individuals who wish to gain knowledge in Emergency procedures and attain a qualification in Emergency First Aid at Work . It should be remembered that the Emergency First Aider should not attempt to give first aid for which they have not been trained.
The syllabus of the First Aid at Work course is:-

• First Aid Priorities
• Managing Incidents
• Basic Life Support
• Examination of a Casualty
• Safe use of an AED
• Unconsciousness
• Control of Bleeding
• Dealing with Seizures
• First Aid Provision
• Dealing with Minor Injuries
• Recording and Reporting

This is an HSENI approved workplace course. There is no final exam however there will be continuous evaluation throughout the course learners deemed to have reached the required standard will be issued with an HSENI  certificate in Emergency First Aid at Work which is valid for 3 years.
The HSE (NI) has strongly recommended that those attending this course attend annual refresher training lasting 2-3 hours. This is not compulsory but it is strongly RECOMMENDED by the HSENI.
